Application Timeline
Application is open now for all volunteer positions! Apply to all roles (pre-seminar and on-site) you’re interested in! You will only be selected for at most one pre-seminar role and one on-site role. Your Pre-Seminar contributions will help you get selected for an On-Site Volunteer Role.

On-Site Roles
Facilitators
A facilitator is an adult (over 21) volunteer who is responsible for a small group of 8-12 students throughout the entire seminar. Facilitators lead small group discussions, build unity among the group members, and make sure their group members stay on task. Facilitators are a vital part of the HOBY experience and the enthusiasm and involvement of the adult facilitator has tremendous influence on the group. A facilitator serves as a role model, counselor, friend, and in some cases disciplinarian. Balancing these roles may be challenging, but volunteering as a facilitator is one of the most rewarding positions that a HOBY volunteer can have!
By the On-Site Role Application Deadline, All Facilitators will be required to fundraise at least $20 to cover their background check fee and pass the background check required for all 18+ volunteers

Junior Staff
Anyone who has attended a HOBY Tennessee seminar will tell you that our Junior Staff team keeps the heart of HOBY beating! Junior Staff volunteers are HOBY Alumni who are under 21 and work to help the seminar run smoothly and make sure ambassadors have an OUTSTANDING experience!
First-year Junior Staff members will serve as Junior Facilitators, working alongside facilitators to serve the ambassador experience by being linked with a group of students. Returning Junior Staff will also have the opportunities to run activities, introduce speakers, serve as a photographers, and more!
By the On-Site Role Application Deadline, All Junior Staff will be required to submit a letter of recommendation to seminar@hobytn.org and fundraise $150 to offset your food and housing costs during the seminar.
When applying, select Position Category: Junior Staff Team, and either Position: Junior Staff under 18 (if you’ll be 16-18 during the seminar) or Junior Staff 18 – 20 (if you’ll be 18-20 during the seminar).
